Mocha
This project involved the design of a second shop for the new accessories and jewellery store Mocha. Our challenge was to create a luxurious but understated retail environment.
As with all of our projects, small scale details and the exploration of materiality and texture were key interests in this project. The innovative and unexpected treatment of materials such as black plastic chains, the layered use of copper, mesh curtain walls and mirrored surfaces throughout the store helps create a unique space.
Working with and even celebrating the unusual proportions of this tall and narrow store also informed much of the detailing and design. Black and white terrazzo floor tiles are laid in a diamond pattern to reduce the lengthening and linear effect of straight laid tiles. Copper pendants are clustered to create a reflective canopy over the point of sale counter and provide a visual break within the linear site.
