Page Street House
Set back from the original Victorian façade and responding to the neighbouring milieu of corrugated iron back-lane fences, the Page Street renovation is punctuated by a copper-concertina clad first-storey facade, perched over a receding glazed wall beneath. Forming an image of compression, the design makes the most of its relatively small site and this economy is heightened by an innovative indoor–outdoor fireplace. By setting the ground floor line back beneath the copper element above, outdoor space has been maximised and sun-shading principles implemented.
